The existing mortar joints are assessed for depth of failure, profile and composition. The brick or stone type and wall age are considered to specify a replacement mortar that is appropriate in strength, permeability and appearance.
Failed mortar is cut out to a minimum depth of 20mm using appropriate tools, taking care not to damage the brick or stone arises. The joint is cleaned out and dampened in preparation for the new mortar.
New mortar is applied in the correct profile, tooled to match the existing pointing style where required and finished neatly. The completed work is protected from rapid drying in hot or windy conditions to ensure proper curing.
