Local property context
Property and moisture across Cambridgeshire
The county divides fairly clearly. Cambridge and the surrounding villages contain a high proportion of older solid-wall property, much of it converted into flats or let to students and professionals, where occupancy levels and airflow provision have a direct bearing on condensation. Further north, the Fenland towns of March, Wisbech, Chatteris and Whittlesey sit on low-lying reclaimed land where high water tables, drainage and ground levels are established features of the landscape rather than speculation.
St Neots, St Ives, Huntingdon and Godmanchester have all seen substantial modern expansion alongside their historic cores, so it is common to inspect a 1990s or 2000s home with an airflow-driven condensation problem one day and a listed riverside building with genuine penetrating damp the next.

The purpose of a survey is to identify the underlying cause of the moisture, not to justify a particular treatment.

Questions
Frequently asked questions — Cambridgeshire
Is St Ives in Cambridgeshire the same as St Ives in Cornwall?
No. Our St Ives page refers to St Ives in Cambridgeshire, the market town on the Great Ouse near Huntingdon. We do not operate in Cornwall.
Do Fenland properties need different treatment?
They need different investigation. Low-lying ground, high water tables and drainage arrangements are relevant factors that a surveyor should consider, but they do not automatically mean rising damp — condensation and defect-driven water ingress are just as common in these towns as anywhere else.
Do you cover Peterborough as part of Cambridgeshire?
Peterborough has its own dedicated page because it is a separate unitary authority. The service is the same; we simply do not duplicate the same city under two different sections of the site.
