Local property context
Property and moisture across Hertfordshire
Hertfordshire holds an unusually clear record of twentieth-century housing policy. Letchworth and Welwyn were built as garden cities, Stevenage, Hatfield and Hemel Hempstead expanded substantially as designated new towns, and the housing of those eras — solid or early-cavity walls, original ventilation provision, later insulation and window replacement — behaves in ways that are well understood once a surveyor knows what to look for.
Alongside that, the older market towns and the Chilterns fringe contain listed and conservation-area property where remedial work has to be proportionate and sympathetic. We regularly assess buildings where an aggressive damp-proofing specification has been proposed and the evidence does not support it.

Questions
Frequently asked questions — Hertfordshire
Do you work in the parts of Hertfordshire close to Greater London?
We cover Hertfordshire, including Borehamwood, Potters Bar, Bushey, Cheshunt and Waltham Cross. We do not operate inside Greater London.
Can you assess a listed or conservation-area property?
Yes. The investigation is the same, but the recommendations take account of consent requirements and the need for breathable, reversible repairs where appropriate. We will say plainly where specialist consent is likely to be needed.
Do you support letting agents managing several properties?
Yes. Agents and managing agents get portfolio-level visibility of surveys, quotations, works and documents through the portal, which is generally easier than tracking individual jobs by email.
