— our services
Mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) provides continuous whole-house fresh air supply and stale air extraction while recovering the heat that would otherwise be lost, delivering a healthier, condensation-free home without inflated energy bills.
— about this service
An MVHR unit draws air from moisture-generating rooms such as kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms and exhausts it to outside, while simultaneously drawing fresh air from outside and passing it through a heat exchanger that captures and transfers the warmth from the outgoing air to the incoming supply. The result is a property with consistently low humidity, excellent air quality, no condensation and significantly reduced ventilation heat loss. MVHR is particularly suited to new builds, airtight retrofits and properties undergoing significant renovation. Procure Damp Proofing Group surveys, specifies and installs MVHR systems appropriate to the property's air permeability, floor area and occupancy, ensuring the system is correctly commissioned for balanced airflow on completion.
— our process
A detailed survey establishes air permeability, floor area, room layout and existing ventilation provision to design a duct layout and specify the correct MVHR unit with appropriate supply and extract flow rates for the property.
The MVHR unit is installed, typically in a loft or utility space, and supply and extract duct runs are installed to each room in line with the system design. Valves are positioned discreetly in ceilings or walls to minimise visual impact.
The system is commissioned with airflow rates measured and balanced at each valve. The client is shown how to operate the system, change filters and adjust settings for seasonal variation throughout the year.
— benefits
MVHR delivers continuous whole-house ventilation while recovering the warmth from exhausted air, maintaining a healthy, condensation-free internal environment without the energy penalty associated with opening windows or conventional extract-only ventilation.
By maintaining consistently low background humidity across all rooms, MVHR prevents the conditions in which condensation and mould form, rather than managing individual outbreaks after they have already taken hold.
— FAQ
MVHR performs best in airtight properties where background ventilation through gaps and cracks is minimal. In very draughty or poorly insulated properties, improving airtightness alongside the MVHR installation will maximise the benefit and efficiency of the system.
Procure Damp Proofing Group surveys, designs and installs MVHR systems across Bedfordshire, correctly specified and commissioned for every property.
— Other Services
An oversized or undersized MVHR system will not perform efficiently and can introduce noise or draught issues. Procure designs the system to the specific property and commissions with measured airflow balancing at every valve.
