Rickmansworth sits in the Colne valley in south-west Hertfordshire, where the rivers Colne, Chess and Gade converge before the land rises toward the Chiltern Hills. The town grew significantly during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods, and properties from that era make up a meaningful portion of the older residential stock. Dry rot is more serious and can spread through masonry as well as timber. A timber inspection identifies the type and extent of any decay, establishes whether an active moisture source is still present, and determines what treatment or replacement is required.
